Only three teams had ever won back-to-back-to-back Stanley Cups. The opportunity for us to ascend hockey’s Mount Everest was there, and then it was gone. All of a sudden, we’d become the underdogs and we knew the 2023 the season would be a fight. It was up to us to the set the tone; to raise the black flag and let the whole league know that a storm was coming. It was time to show some grit, get our hands dirty, and prepare our fans for battle.
